Project
Description

When Herzing University sought to establish a new campus in Atlanta, they turned to Cornerstone Contracting Group, a leading Atlanta general contractor known for its expertise in institutional and educational construction. From the project’s inception, Cornerstone played a pivotal role in guiding the university through the decision-making process. The team provided detailed budget pricing as Herzing evaluated multiple potential locations, ensuring cost-effective solutions aligned with their long-term vision. Once the historic Hurt Building was selected as the site, Cornerstone continued to offer preconstruction services, working closely with the university to refine scope, schedule, and costs.

The completed campus, located on the fourth floor of the landmark Hurt Building in downtown Atlanta, offers a dynamic learning environment tailored to the needs of modern higher education. Cornerstone transformed the space into a functional, inspiring setting where students can thrive. Upon entering through a custom-designed elevator lobby, students are greeted by a sophisticated academic environment that blends the building’s historic charm with contemporary educational amenities.

The campus features a fully equipped student library with an integrated computer lab, flexible classrooms designed to accommodate various teaching styles, and enclosed group study rooms that foster collaboration. Open study areas provide additional options for students to work independently or engage in peer discussions. A spacious breakroom, complete with cafeteria-style seating, enhances the student experience by offering a comfortable communal space.

One of the standout features of the campus is the state-of-the-art nursing training facility, a testament to Cornerstone’s expertise in constructing specialized institutional spaces. This hands-on learning environment includes functional patient care equipment, allowing nursing students to gain critical clinical experience in a controlled, realistic setting. To support faculty and administrative staff, the floor also incorporates a mix of open workspaces and private offices, ensuring efficient operations.

A spacious breakroom with cafeteria seating provides students with a comfortable space to relax and socialize. The crown jewel of the renovation is the state-of-the-art nursing training facility, equipped with functioning patient operative care equipment, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in a realistic healthcare setting. Administrative areas, including an open workspace and private offices, round out the design, ensuring efficient operations for faculty and staff.

By blending the historic character of the Hurt Building with the latest educational infrastructure, Cornerstone Contracting Group has delivered a campus that not only meets the immediate needs of Herzing University but also sets the stage for future growth. As a trusted Atlanta commercial contractor, Cornerstone is proud to have played a role in shaping a premier institution for higher learning in the heart of the city.
