Description
When Herzing University sought to establish a new campus in Atlanta, they turned to Cornerstone Contracting for expertise and execution. The project began with Cornerstone providing budget pricing as Herzing considered potential locations. After an in-person review of scope, schedule, and cost, Cornerstone was selected to bring the vision to life, offering preconstruction services as part of their comprehensive approach.
Despite encountering a discrepancy with the mechanical design mid-project, Cornerstone’s team swiftly presented three alternative solutions, each accompanied by detailed cost and schedule implications. This proactive approach, coupled with the skill of their trade partners, enabled the project’s completion in time for the Fall 2018 semester.
The resulting space, located on the fourth floor of the historic Hurt Building, seamlessly blends modern educational needs with the building’s classic charm. Cornerstone created a customized elevator lobby leading to a floor designed to meet diverse learning requirements. Key features include a student library with computer lab facilities, versatile classrooms, enclosed group study rooms, and inviting open study areas.
A spacious breakroom with cafeteria seating provides students with a comfortable space to relax and socialize. The crown jewel of the renovation is the state-of-the-art nursing training facility, equipped with functioning patient operative care equipment, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in a realistic healthcare setting. Administrative areas, including an open workspace and private offices, round out the design, ensuring efficient operations for faculty and staff.
